Introduction

Caring for the people who make our products is our top priority. We work only with suppliers who share our values, respect people, and uphold human rights.

Every supplier must demonstrate that they protect workers’ rights, provide fair pay, and maintain safe working conditions.

Monitoring ethical standards is an ongoing responsibility. Our dedicated ethical compliance team regularly visits and audits factories, with the ability to carry out unannounced spot checks when needed. They’re supported by external experts in both the UK and our sourcing countries, as well as shared data platforms used by other retailers to track supplier performance. We also focus on building long-term partnerships with suppliers, working together to improve health, safety, and ethical practices.

This policy sets out the standards we adhere to and require from all suppliers, manufacturers, and partners. 

1. Employment is Freely Chosen
1.1. We do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary prison labour.
1.2. Workers are not required to lodge deposits or identity papers and are free to leave employment with reasonable notice.

2. Freedom of Association & Collective Bargaining
2.1. Where legal, workers have the right to join or form trade unions of their choice and bargain collectively.
2.2. We maintain an open attitude toward trade union activities.
2.3. Worker representatives are not discriminated against and are free to carry out their functions.
2.4. Where the law restricts freedom of association, we support alternative, independent means for representation.

3. Safe & Hygienic Working Conditions
3.1. We provide a safe, hygienic working environment in line with legal requirements and industry best practice.
3.2. Workers have unrestricted access to clean toilets, drinking water, and (if needed) sanitary food storage.
3.3. Any accommodation provided is clean, safe, and meets basic needs.
3.4. Health & safety responsibilities are assigned to a senior manager.
3.5. All workers receive regular, recorded health, safety, and fire safety training.

4. No Child Labour
4.1. We do not employ anyone below the legal minimum working age in the country of manufacture.
4.2. Workers under 18 are not employed in hazardous conditions or at night.

5. Wages & Benefits
5.1. Wages meet or exceed legal and industry minimums and are sufficient for basic needs and some discretionary income.
5.2. Workers are given written, understandable information on employment terms and wages.
5.3. No unlawful deductions are made from wages.

6. Working Hours
6.1. Working hours comply with legal and industry standards.
6.2. Workers do not work more than 48 hours per week on a regular basis. Overtime is voluntary, limited, and fairly compensated.
6.3. Workers have at least one day off every seven days.

7. No Discrimination
7.1. We do not discriminate in hiring, training, pay, promotion, or termination based on race, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or union membership.

8. Regular Employment
8.1. Work is performed on the basis of a recognised employment relationship.
8.2. Labour law obligations are not avoided through fixed-term contracts or subcontracting.
8.3. We encourage training and education opportunities for employees.

9. No Harsh or Inhumane Treatment
9.1. Physical abuse, sexual harassment, verbal abuse, or intimidation are prohibited.
9.2. Disciplinary procedures must be fair, transparent, and documented.

10. Environmental Responsibility
10.1. We comply with all applicable environmental laws and strive to minimise waste, emissions, and environmental impact.

11. Compliance & Management
11.1. A senior representative is responsible for policy implementation.
11.2. We maintain compliance with all relevant national laws and can provide proof upon request.

We confirm that all products supplied by MUCHV are manufactured in compliance with this Ethical Sourcing Policy and that these standards will be upheld at all times.
